ComReal Companies Celebrate 30 Years in the Commercial Real Estate Industry

ComReal Miami celebrates its Thirty Years Anniversary. We look forward to continuing to serve all of you in 2009 and beyond.

Thank you !!!

On May 31st, 2009, The ComReal Companies celebrate its 30th Anniversary.
Over the years, ComReal has played an integral role in the commercial development of South Florida.

In 1979, the Stephen H. Smith Company was founded. The name was later changed to ComR
eal. Mr. Smith, Founder and President, was considered a pioneer for locating the office in Miami’s Airport West market. He helped develop Americas’ Gateway Park, an 136-acres business park which was one of the first of its kind in South Florida. Today, the ComReal Team continues to lead the commercial real estate profession.

“ComReal has been a great fit for me.” states Ed Redlich, Vice-President. “For all of m
y 15 years in this career, ComReal has encouraged me to grow, develop and learn. Everyone adapts the tools & technology and then specializes in a certain product to become an expert. We also each get involved and take a leadership role in professional organizations.” Redlich is a second generation associate. His father, Ronald, was also an industrial specialist with ComReal and helped mentor his son into the business. Redlich currently has the leasing assignment for a 240,000 sq. ft. warehouse development within Homestead Park of Commerce and for over 500,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space for The Faith Family. This include Beacon at 97th ; a Class A business park in Doral.

ComReal en Cartagena Colombia

In May 2009, Ed Redlich took the opportunity while traveling through Cartagena, Colombia to tour and learn more about the Port. The Port of Cartagena is one of the deepest and safest ports in South America. It is 276 miles from the Panama Canal making it a convenient location to import/export goods. It is also located very near Rafael Nunez International Airport and is within the La Candelaria Industrial Free Trade area. See http://www.central.com.co and www.puertadelasamericas.com.co

Cartagena also has Mamonal Industrial Park in the El Bosque Industrial area of about 400 acres. The majority of the products include palstics, oil, petrochemical, chemical substances, produce, foods, beverages, etc.

Cartagena is the lead city to the USA. The more trade, the better for bodegas en Miami. The city will benefit greatly should the Colombia Free Trade Agreement be executed by the US Congress. The Colombian people deserve trade liberalization and free trade agreements with the Americas and Caribbean. President Alvaro Uribe has done an incredible job with the economy and national security. Colombia is truly a strong ally and trade partner for the USA.

Viva Colombia!

Miami Herald and FIU on Laundering Money via International Trade

It’s really good to have both FIU and the Miami Herald monitoring this issue that effects Miami's commercial real estate market. Be sure to read the Business Monday May 11th article in Miami Herald on “Money Laundering”. If you are interested in this topic, be sure to read the full article at http://business.fiu.edu/pdf/PrintMay2009/money-laundering-through-international-trade.pdf

My firm deals with many customers in the international trade business, importing and exporting. For those we do not know, we are sure to screen them as best we can before we do business. Some of my landlord clients demand this before they will execute lease agreements on their Miami warehouses. We are also asked to visit any prospective tenants current location to see their operation ensuring that is legitimate and active. Tenants are required to fill-out credit applications and are also screened via the US PATRIOT Act.
